i’m not the only person in the world who prefers to write in lowercase text.

but, in the blogging world, it’s probably considered “proper” to use proper capitalization. correct punctuation. though, i’m all for the punctuation.

i think it might be partially because i’m a lazy typer. not so lazy that i type in “txtspk.” even when i text, i painstakingly type out the full spelling of the words.

maybe it’s because it’s just easier. i could go with easier.

anyway, this post is partially to give you an idea of what could happen here around banter studio.

sam will probably still use capitalization. and i will, too, for some things. [when i was a DJ on second life, i'd nearly always type out "DJing" with the capital D and J because it looked less confusing to me. but anyway...] for the most part, i will be continuing all future posts on banter studio in my natural typing state: lowercase.

in which i mention what’s going on around here

posting will likely be erratic. there are, of course, two of us. however, we do things differently when it comes to writing, so there could be a week when there are many posts. and there could be weeks when there are only one or two. we’re going on vacation in a few weeks, and we might post from the road, so to speak, but i’m keeping as much of the week as unscheduled as i run the rest of my life (post on that coming soon).

if you’ve looked around the site at all, you may have noticed a post from dot, one of our cats. clearly, she didn’t actually write the post (but it would be nice to teach her to type). but one of the things we want to do is give a glimpse of our life from (what we think is) the perspectives of our cats.

and, in other news

life around here is in a bit of transition. first, a bit of background.

my childhood was filled with food. and the genetics of my father’s side are such that i carry a lot of weight. i made unhealthy food habits at a young age, which has carried me to where i am now. i was diagnosed as diabetic in 2006, mostly from weight and diet, and partly from family history on my mom’s side. i also have pcos. a healthier weight would be good.

sam and i joined up on nathalie lussier’s cure cravings forever program, which helps combat our cravings for less healthy foods. nathalie’s thing is raw food, which is a lot of fruit, veggies, and healthy goodness. in the program is a bit about what she calls the magick cleanse. i’m on that cleanse right now.

thank goodness lemonade tastes good.

i was going to do it for five days, but we bought a lot of produce the other night, and i don’t want it to fall on sam to eat it all. therefore, i am doing three days. it’s going well so far. i’ve noticed that there have been points where, in the past, i would have asked sam to bring me a snack, just cause i want to chew on something. instead, i’m drinking a mix of lemons, dark maple syrup, cayenne pepper and filtered water. three liters of it a day. and i’m drinking water, too, partly to help with the spiciness of the cayenne pepper.

that’s a lot of liquid.

my personal reward, though, is a square of really good chocolate. i’m not entirely sure it’s dark chocolate or not, or if it’s raw or not, but sam picked it out. so that’s enough.

i’m also missing crunching on salads. go figure. (my mom would be proud. and surprised.)

we’ve tentatively decided to go high raw, which for us means that we’re raw until dinner most days. roughly 70%. for the non-raw portions of our food, we’re making better choices. however, we’re not ruling out the occasional fast food run. or having pizza at one of our favorite restaurants. and then there’s christmas to consider.

i think if you have access to good, healthy food, and eat good, healthy food, you can improve how you feel.

and, in closing

i know this blog had been neglected for a long time, and that’s something sam and i plan to change.

if the mood strikes you, tell me your thoughts on the raw lifestyle. do you like fruits and veggies? are you a full-on carnivore?
does the fact that i’m typing in lowercase bother you? (i probably won’t change that, but i’ll respect your opinion.)
